WA Day & WAOTY Awards


Overview


Using Celebrate WA’s brand guidelines as a foundation, I enhanced the look and feel across their two flagship programs: the WA Day Festival (metro and regional) and the Western Australian of the Year Awards (WAOTY). The campaigns spanned awareness, event collateral, and high-profile activations that celebrated Western Australia’s culture and achievements.

Approach


For WA Day, I developed a flexible creative system that translated across social, digital, press, and live activations. A major highlight was the partnership with the West Coast Eagles, where I designed boundary LED graphics, scoreboard animations, stadium signage, and a commemorative coin for the official coin toss. The regional events campaign has already run successfully, while metro events are currently rolling out awareness creative.

For WAOTY, I built on the official brand guidelines to create a premium visual identity that enhanced the sense of prestige and occasion. This covered press, digital, invitations, and event collateral, including signage and two booklets—one for the luncheon and one for the gala dinner—ensuring a consistent and sophisticated experience across every touchpoint.

Deliverables


  • WA Day Festival (regional & metro): Social, digital, and press campaigns; regional event collateral for eight individual locations; metro awareness creative; event day signage

  • West Coast Eagles game day partnership: Stadium-wide digital signage (boundary LEDs, scoreboard, concourse) for both WA Day festival and WAOTY awards, commemorative coin toss design

  • WAOTY Awards: Press and digital campaigns, invitations, event signage, luncheon booklet, dinner booklet, Yagan tower thank you animation

Results


The refreshed creative was very well received at regional events, with the visuals strengthening the sense of occasion and community. The design system will continue to carry through to metro WA Day celebrations in November and into future WAOTY events.
